False dilemma
False dilemma is a technique that is commonly used to persuade someone of your argument by providing them with an either-or option. This works because it gives the opposition really no other option than to agree with your point as your other option doesn’t appeal to them.
Example:
Lets say that a kid wanted a cooler new school bag and to convince their parents they gave them two severe options…. either “if you’d buy me the school bag you would kind, caring and loving parents that cared about my education and if you don’t buy me the bag you’re obviously none of those things and don’t care about my education. Another example is if you wanted to buy a book and then you’d say if you don’t buy it for me you’re against reading.
